My Fellow Texans,

Celebrate Texas is an organization dedicated to encouraging and promoting the education of the general public regarding Texas Independence Day and the history of Texas and its people. Founded by Jay L. Johnson in 1998, each year the organization sponsors a number of events to highlight the March 2nd Celebration of Texas Independence Day. Among the many events is a parade up Congress Avenue, essay scholarship contests on Texas History in our elementary and secondary schools and a celebrity golf tournament.

I encourage you to support the Seventh Annual Celebrate Texas Jay L. Johnson Memorial Celebrity Golf Tournament on Monday, March 3, 2008. The site of the tournament is the beautiful University of Texas Golf Club at Steiner Ranch. There will be great prizes (cars, airline tickets, weekend stays at fabulous hotels just to name a few) and great food. Proceeds from your tax deductible contributions will go toward carrying on the goals of the organization and funding scholarships for students in the state of Texas.

Distinguished public servants, outstanding sports figures and honored members of the entertainment community will be participating in this exciting event that promises to be the highlight of the early spring golf season. Scheduled to join us this year are:

Former Longhorn Basketball Head Coach, Leon Black;
Former All Pro Linebacker with the Dallas Cowboys, Thomas Henderson;
Former Longhorn, NFL LB, and Sportscaster, Brian Jones;
Former Longhorn All American and NFL player, Roosevelt Leaks;v Former Longhorn QB, Donnie Little;
Former Green Bay Packers NFL player, Al Matthews;
Former Longhorn Head Football Coach, David McWilliams;
Former Longhorn Head Tennis Coach, Dave Snyder;
Former Longhorn QB, James Brown.
