CELEBRATE
TEXAS 2008 ART AND ESSAY CONTEST
The 2008 contest awards four
- first, second and third place winners, unless there are fewer than three entrants. The state is divided into four equal zones and entrants compete within their zone. The first place High School winner will receive a $1,000.00 scholarship. The second and third place High School winners, and Middle and Elementary School’s first, second, and third place winners will also receive prizes.
This
2008 topics for each school level were as follows:
ELEMENTARY ART: “Draw your favorite Texas Hero and Write a Line Describing Your Subject”
MIDDLE SCHOOL ESSAY: “Visit a historical site or museum and write about 3 significant facts that impressed you”
HIGH SCHOOL ESSAY: “Discuss reasons many Tejanos like Juan Sequin chose to support Texas Independence with Anglo settlers"
It
is our desire that students learn about and love their state, TEXAS.
This contest may be used as a teaching tool, a springboard for discussion,
or a home activity for extra credit.
